OnePlus Android 17 Update Schedule: ColorOS 17 Dates

OnePlus Android 17 update schedule: ColorOS 17 dates

OnePlus has reportedly set October 29, 2026, as the start of its Android 17 rollout, with the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 first in line, according to an official roadmap described by Android Authority nine days ago. That's the most detailed OnePlus Android 17 update schedule published so far, but it only covers part of the picture.

A separate schedule tells a different story. Sina Tech reported two weeks ago that a rollout had already begun on October 8, 2026, putting the OnePlus 15 and 15T in the first batch, with the OnePlus 13 and 13T following in a second batch on October 16. Android Authority's dates and Sina Tech's dates name different devices on different days, which points to separate regional rollouts rather than one universal timeline, though neither report spells out how the two connect.

This goes beyond a routine version bump. OnePlus confirmed three months ago that eligible devices will get the option to move from OxygenOS to OPPO's ColorOS as part of this update cycle, a change the company frames as engineering consolidation rather than a feature upgrade, per 9to5Google. Below is the reported rollout timing device by device, what OnePlus has and hasn't confirmed about the ColorOS switch, and which older models are missing from the published lists.

OnePlus Android 17 eligible devices: ColorOS 17 rollout schedule by device

Both reports describe staged waves, not a single release day. The dates come from Android Authority's account of a OnePlus roadmap and Sina Tech's account of a Chinese-language rollout schedule; neither source links to a standalone OnePlus press release covering the full regional breakdown, so treat these as the best available secondhand schedule rather than an official announcement. The table below lists only OnePlus-branded devices; Sina Tech's reporting also names OPPO and realme models, plus wearables, outside the scope of this rundown.

Device(s) Reported date/window Source
OnePlus 15, OnePlus Pad 4 Oct. 29, 2026 Android Authority
OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13s Oct. 30, 2026 Android Authority
OnePlus Open, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 12, OnePlus Nord 6, OnePlus Nord CE6, OnePlus Pad 3 November 2026 Android Authority
OnePlus 12R, OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition, OnePlus 11, OnePlus Nord 5, OnePlus Nord CE6 Lite, OnePlus Nord CE5, OnePlus Pad 2, OnePlus Pad Go 2 December 2026 Android Authority
OnePlus Nord 4, OnePlus N6, OnePlus N6x, OnePlus N6 Lite, OnePlus Pad Lite Q1 2027 Android Authority
OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15T Oct. 8, 2026 Sina Tech
OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13T, OnePlus Pad 3 Pro Oct. 16, 2026 Sina Tech
OnePlus Ace 6, OnePlus Ace 6 Supreme Edition, OnePlus Ace 6T, OnePlus Ace 6T Genshin Impact Edition Oct. 20, 2026 Sina Tech
OnePlus 12, OnePlus Ace 5 series, OnePlus Turbo 6 series November 2026 (grouped) Sina Tech
OnePlus 11 series, OnePlus Ace 3 series December 2026 (grouped) Sina Tech

Notice the overlap: the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 13 show up on both schedules, each with a different date attached. That's the clearest sign these are two parallel rollouts rather than one contested timeline, though again, neither report explains why a single phone carries two different windows.

What OnePlus has confirmed about the ColorOS switch

Eligible devices worldwide will get the option to voluntarily update to ColorOS once it's officially released, rather than being forced onto it, according to a OnePlus statement reported by 9to5Google three months ago. OnePlus frames the move as consolidating engineering with OPPO to speed up delivery and improve software quality, not as a feature upgrade in its own right.

Users who do switch will reportedly be able to roll back to OxygenOS, per the same report. Older models that already sit outside the Android 17 update scope keep receiving what OnePlus calls "maintenance support" for OxygenOS. For newer, eligible devices, the reporting suggests those phones will likely need to accept the ColorOS switch to keep getting all forms of continued support, a reading of OnePlus's language rather than a direct guarantee from the company.

That distinction matters. Because the reporting frames continued support as something newer devices will "likely" need ColorOS for, rather than stating it outright, there's no confirmation that an eligible device declining ColorOS gets identical updates and security patches to one that accepts it. The cited reporting also doesn't touch on how ColorOS 17's interface, preinstalled apps, or day-to-day behavior differ from OxygenOS, so that comparison isn't something this coverage can make yet.

What remains unknown

  • Which specific OxygenOS build each device can roll back to after switching. OnePlus says rollback versions are subject to a future announcement, per 9to5Google.
  • How long OxygenOS maintenance support actually lasts for devices that skip the switch, compared with what "applicable support" covers for devices that accept it.
  • Whether carrier-locked or region-locked variants follow the same dates as unlocked models. The research reviewed here doesn't address carrier variants at all.
  • Whether the reported dates mark when OnePlus starts pushing the update, or a guaranteed delivery date for every unit. Neither report resolves this.

Devices missing from the lists, and what's actually end of life

A OnePlus Community compatibility reference from 2024 listed the OnePlus 11, 12R, and Pad 2 as topping out at Android 17. The current rollout reporting lines up with that: all three land in Android Authority's December 2026 wave. That same 2024 reference pegged Android 18 as the Nord 4's final major version, but the newer roadmap places the Nord 4 in the Q1 2027 Android 17 wave instead, which suggests the older eligibility page is already out of date.

The 2024 reference also marked the OnePlus 13s, Pad 3, and Pad Lite as unknown eligibility at the time. All three now have specific dates attached in the 2026 rollout reporting, though that doesn't mean OnePlus has formally updated its own eligibility page to match.

None of the sources here offer a current, thorough exclusion list. A device missing from the Android Authority or Sina Tech reporting simply wasn't named in those specific accounts, not confirmed as excluded by OnePlus.

The clearest cutoffs remain devices OnePlus had already closed out before this cycle began. Per the Community reference, that includes the OnePlus 8 series and anything numbered lower, the original Nord and Nord 2, the Nord CE and CE2, and the N10, N100, N200, N20, and N300, none of which had further major updates scheduled as of February 1, 2024.

What the reports mean for OnePlus owners

Match the exact model number and regional variant against the table above before assuming a date applies to a specific phone. The China-associated and global lineups follow different schedules, and every date here traces back to reported coverage of a OnePlus roadmap, not a published OnePlus press release.

OnePlus has confirmed that switching to ColorOS is optional and that rollback to OxygenOS will be offered, but it hasn't published the build numbers or migration steps needed to judge what that rollback actually involves. Until OnePlus documents those specifics directly, hold off on treating the ColorOS prompt as a simple, reversible toggle, and watch for OnePlus's own regional migration notes before deciding whether to accept it.
